November Blue: We support this cause!
The Blue November campaign has been held since 2005 by the Brazilian Society of Urology (SBU) and the Lado a Lado pela Vida Institute,
focused on awareness of prostate cancer, which according to data from the National Cancer Institute (INCA) Incidence of breast cancer. The disease has no prevention, however, the early diagnosis has a 90% chance of cure. It is advisable that the examination be done annually,

The recommendation of the Brazilian Society of Urology (SBU) is that men over 50 years of age seek their urologist to discuss the practice and
the conduct of the evaluation. Those at highest risk of the disease (family history, black race) should seek the urologist from the age of 45. The
exams consist of serum PSA and digital rectal examination, complementary to the diagnosis, with annual frequency. However, performing a blood test alone is not advised because about 10 to 20% of cases are not detected by the PSA dosage in the blood. The
touch exam and the PSA are complementary. Symptoms In the initial phase, when the chances of healing are greater, there is no symptom. So the importance of the exams. In the advanced
stage, when the cure is more difficult, the patient may feel: urge to urinate urgently, difficulty urinating and get up several times at night to go to
the bathroom, bone pain, general decline, kidney failure, severe pain. Treatment According to the stage of the tumor and the characteristics of the
patient, the doctor can define the best forms of treatment. In the early stages of the disease (localized and locally advanced tumors) radical
prostatectomy is the standard treatment. It consists of surgery to remove the prostate and has high rates of cure.
